CSPAN Q&A with Rick Beyer
Filmmaker and author Rick Beyer talked about the U.S. Army’s creation of a “Ghost Army” to deceive the Germans during World War II. The 1,100-man unit used inflatable rubber tanks, sound effects, fake radio transmissions, and performance art to fool the Germans into miscalculating the strength and location of American troops. Mr. Beyer has directed a documentary and co-written a book about the unit, The Ghost Army of World War II: How One Top-Secret Unit Deceived the Enemy with Inflatable Tanks, Sound Effects, and Other Audacious Fakery.
